Is Writing Your Business?
So you’ve been treating writing as a business, doing promotion and building your social media platforms. You are THE social media darling of the writing set. You have an author fan page and each of your books has a page on Facebook; you have a Pinterest account to get into their marketplace and push your book; YouTube features your book trailers, where your tens of thousands of carefully selected Twitter followers can view them; your blog has a thousand die-hard followers and you are publishing new posts three times a week – not just author interviews and re-blogs, but incisive fresh content. You haven’t, however, written a word on your next manuscript in six months. Sound familiar?
While treating your publishing endeavor as a business, do not lose sight of the reason behind all of your hard work—your love of the written word and the stories you have to share.
Be willing to ask for help or advice as you need it. Don’t think of paying someone for their expertise as a wasted expense.
